In the US, Since the Dobbs decision which allows states to restrict or outright ban abortion, many young Americans between the ages of 18 and 30 years old have chosen permanent contraception: tubal ligation rose around 55% more than expected, while vasectomies rose around 67% more than expected based on pre-Dobbs trends.

Similar trends are seen in France, where there has been a 15 fold increase in the rates of vasectomies in the last twelve years according to an article in the Journal La Monde.
